For my last post (#sadness🥹), here are my top
spots to splurge and explore in these cities:

- #1 Seongsu: an up-and-coming trendy spot for shopping, cafe hopping, and art galleries. It’s south of Gangnam and has the biggest Olive Young store with 5 floors to shop your heart’s content, plus a free skin and color analysis sessions 🛒🛍️🏷️✨ @oliveyoung_official

- #2 Insadong: a long main street lined with antique shops, cultural centers, souvenir shops, traditional tea houses, and more 🍵⋆｡°🍡°⋆. ࿔*:･

- #3 Myeongdong: home to many big department stores, popular cosmetic and fashion shops, underground subway shops for K-pop merch, and bustling streets full of restaurants🚸👜˗ˋˏ$ˎˊ˗ (go to 🚇 Exit 4, 5, or 6)

- #4 Hongdae: very similar to Myeongdong, but with more nightlife and a club scene🛍️🌃 Both are full of bargain shops and buzzing with youthful energy from the nearby universities (peep my fav @kakaofriends_official 🐻🧡)

To wrap up my SK 2025 trip, it’s been sooo fun to blog again. Traveling has always been a passion of mine, but there’s truly nothing like exploring new places and experiencing moments for the first (or even the nth) time. This trip reminded me that life is about patience, that everything happens for a reason, and to never say never. I’ll miss my gorls as we continue living worlds apart, but I’m forever grateful for the memories we’ve made and the time we get to share whenever we reunite. Until the next adventure ♥️

FIRST IN-PERSON CONCERT IN SK ✙✮✙

TOMORROW X TOGETHER WORLD TOUR <ACT : TOMORROW> IN SEOUL𖧵ꕤ𖧵🦊🐰🐻🐿🐧

Attending the concert was a very last-minute plan for the trip, which made it even more exciting🤗~ I became a fan of +×+ back in 2021 when I studied abroad, so it was a full circle moment to see them perform live in the city I discovered them in🙂‍↕️🤭. What a coincidence and great opportunity in itself, especially as a huge K-pop fan‧₊˚🎧ྀི♪⋆.✮

As this was also my first time going to a concert abroad, here’s how my experience went...

Pros:
- Cost = ticket prices are wayyy more affordable and cheaper than in the US. I paid around $100 in Korea—probably would be 10x more back home #dynamicpricingsucks 😭💸
- Transportation = most major venues have a direct subway stop, super easy to get there🚊🚏
- Artist = amazing performances, fun fan interactions with carts, and great audio 🎶🔊🎤Lo$er = Lo♡er
- Setlist = experience full and diverse songs, including old favorites—not the cut-down versions you get in the USᯓ‎♪

Cons:
- Website/App = buying tickets is confusing—unclear and not user- or foreigner-friendly (e.g., facial recognition optional?) 💻😵‍💫📲
- Face Recognition Verification = not clearly stated, but you can skip facial recognition and pick up your tickets at the venue—just get there early ⚠️❎❓
- Merch Booth = closes 15 mins before the show, doesn’t reopen during or after ⛔⏰😳
- Etiquette = sad to see so much trash everywhere. Concert-goers were polite during the show, but before and after it got hectic, with pushing and staff/fans giving off attitude when you asked for help🫠😔☹️🚮🗑️

Op, op-op-op, oppan Gangnam 🐎🕺🎶

PSA: I was on BRB mode locking in to get Ariana Grande tickets, but sadly my queue numbers were tragic—only for it to sell out while I was still waiting to see if I could get any #FAIL haha 😂 to those who won the ticketing war, congratz cuz that was hard to achieve 👏🌟🏆🎯✅

As promised, this is the main famous tourist attraction that everyone visits at Starfield Library COEX. It was nice to see everything looked the same even after so many years. I love that you get to see the “Gangnam Styleヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪ hands” statue outside with the iconic library inside. I feel the main difference between COEX and Suwon libraries is that this one has an escalator🆙, so you can get that perfect IG picture moment. But comparing the two, which one do you like better?

Gangnam is always a good time for shopping, K-beauty treatments, and the cutest cafes. We went to Nudake Haus Dosan, known for its creative pastries like the mini croissants🥐🤎ྀིྀི , and Dasique Cafe, with a pink aesthetic + desserts for the girls🍓🍰💌🍑🧸🩷🎀༘⋆

Suwon Part 2 ༄˖°.☕️.ೃ࿔📚*:･

To end our day, we visited Starfield Library Suwon, which was absolutely stunning and 💯times better in person! Pictures don’t do it justice, so definitely add it to your itinerary👩🏻‍💻📓✍🏻💡~

There are actually 4 Starfield malls in Korea but only 2 locations have a popular library inside, and I’ll post the other one this week so you can be the judge of which location is better haha😆:

✦ Starfield Library COEX: 513, Yeongdong-daero, Gangnam-gu 𓊍🕺🏻✧˖°
✦ Starfield Library Suwon: 175 Suseong-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon-si 🪐 ༘⋆⭒˚｡⋆

We hadn’t planned to go, but a friendly local recommended it the day before—and we’re so glad we went. It’s worth the visit, as it’s not only a famous library for photos but also a shopping mall where you can shop and grab some amazing food at the food court!

P.S. It’s also near Suwon Arboretum Irwol, another K-drama filming location📍, so it’s worth a visit too if you like Queen of Tears♕˚ ༘⋆🛍️｡. Just be sure to check if the place is open—it wasn’t when we went, but we could see the outside of it.

Suwon Part 1 ⛰🌿🚍☀️☁️

Exploring a new city was high on our MUST-DO list, and being such a big K-drama fan, I knew it had to be Suwon🇰🇷🌟🎬🎤~

It’s about an hour South from Seoul, which isn’t bad since that’s about the same as going to Gangnam😆😅…Leaving early turned out perfect—no traffic, and we arrived sooner than expected with extra time to walk around and explore. Shoutout to the locals for being so kind and taking our pics! They seriously know the angles + their photo-taking skills are on point•ᴗ•🤳🏻🔥

As a major filming spot for many K-dramas and full of historical landmarks, we got to see:

Musical <WICKED> ˚˖𓍢ִ໋💗💚˚˖𓍢ִ໋

I’ve always loved all forms of art🎭🎨🖼️, and my cousin was actually the one who first introduced me to musicals. Ever since then, it’s become a little tradition of mine to check out local shows whenever I travel. This time, I was lucky enough to grab tickets to WICKED the musical 🎶🧙🏼‍♀️🧹🌪️🪣👸🏼🪄

What’s funny is I’ve now seen musicals in 4 completely different ways😅: in English, entirely in another language, in another language with subtitles, and now in English with subtitles in the local language. It reminded me of watching English movies back in Vietnam, where I’d laugh at the jokes right away, while everyone else laughed a few seconds later after reading the subtitles. Though there’s a delay, it just goes to show you don’t always need to understand the language to enjoy the experience ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´-

Now that I’ve seen the musical, I’m really excited for WICKED the movie Part 2🫧⋆｡˚ to come out in November 2025 to see how it compares—whether they keep it close to the musical or put their own spin on it @wicked_musical @wickedmovie

Bucket list moment 🌟  Finally checking off LOTTE WORLD🎠⋆｡˚⟡˖ ࣪ from my bucket list!!  
It is a popular amusement park located in Gangnam, about an hour away by subway from Hongdae, but conveniently on the green line🚇🟢 that stops directly at the location~

When we went, there was a Lotte World X Pokemon Adventure: Summer Festa happening, Ϟ(๑⚈ ․̫ ⚈๑)⋆⚡ so it was a fun experience with cute photo zones and a themed gift shop to check out.

It’s definitely smaller and a bit underwhelming compared to Disneyland and Universal Studios, but just like them, the ride lines are long—we waited over an hour for the Pokemon Balloon ride. The cool part here is you can rent school uniforms👔 to wear in the park (which I finally tried!). It’s around 20,000 – 40,000 KRW, and they’ll hold onto your ID/passport until you return it.

Overall, I’d definitely go again if they host another theme or to try the ice skating rink next time!😁

FOOD + CAFES = YUM (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑)

What do you mean everything opens after 10 am?!?( ˶°ㅁ°) !!

I was shocked that sooo many places open so late…I kept thinking: was it always like this, or did I just wake up late back then? haha😅 Either way, I don’t remember and it meant more random AM scrolling until doors finally opened ᯓ🚶🏻‍♀️‍➡️

Lately, I have (or am trying) to become more of a morning person, so we started most days at 7:00 am. But nothing was open except for cafe chains like Ediya Coffee and Starbucks. We didn’t mind since it was the perfect excuse to satisfy our chain cravings that we don’t have back home. My favorite is Paris Baguette, while Elise’s favorite is Mega Coffee—both are great places to visit for a quick meal ☕🤎🥯🍪~

Highlights:
- Cafe Events: Did I even go to Korea if I didn’t attend one? I missed going to these with Anna, so I went to G-Dragon’s birthday🐉👑🌼 and a random +×+ concert related one. GD, the king of K-pop is truly an icon to celebrate!
- Aquarium Cafe: A cool spot to watch marine life in Gangnam at the Lotte Mall while sipping a drink and enjoying the views 𓇼 ⋆.˚ 𓆉 𓆝 𓆡⋆.˚ 𓇼~
- Lotteria: A popular fast-food restaurant chain in South Korea, which is kinda coincidental since they are opening their first US location near my family’s place this year haha 🍔🍟
- Hot Pot: Hidden in the basement of a shopping mall in Myeongdong, discovered back with my friend Syd. The location has moved, but the combo set we loved is still there—though prices have gone up🥘
- Sushi’O: Another classic place we used to eat at in Hongdae, and the food is AYCE. The fish isn’t the best, but it’s a solid, filling meal if you want a decent sushi fix 🐙🍣🥢
- Dasique Cafe: ABSOLUTELY SO PRETTY💗ྀི🍰🎀𓂃 ࣪˖ Everything is better in pink jk, but the decor and vibes were worth a visit.
- Late Night Munchies: Hongdae street is always alive, especially at night. Even sketchy-looking places sometimes serve the best food. We had jjajangmyeon🍜, kimbap, and kimchi jjigae, and capped it off with my creme brulee waffle.

With so much we wanted to do, there wasn’t time to try everything. So, next time, I’ll have even more foodie pics to share!! 🫡♥️

“...REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD”♬⋆

Ewha is still beautiful as ever!! I might argue that it is one of the prettiest campuses I’ve been to, and the school colors are the same as my home university haha💚🤍. This was my exchange university that I attended during COVID-19 times, so there wasn’t much that we could do, but I still came to campus often to study👩🏻‍💻 and impulsively buy merch at the gift shop˚ ༘◛⋆｡˚

The gift shop has definitely upgraded from that small, dim room—it’s now bigger, brighter, and full of more items✨🎁🛍️. I didn’t splurge this time, though I was tempted to, but Elise did 😂. I do want to thank @ewha.w.univ and @ewha.peacebuddy.official for supporting my endeavors over the years—even when I graduated, they commented their congratulations to me, which I really appreciate! დ.❛˓◞˂̵

Another highlight in this post is finally visiting Yonsei University, which is sooo close to Ewha Womans University. I don’t know why I didn’t explore it before, but I’m glad I went this time. It’s not only a S.K.Y. school (similar vibes to the Ivy League schools in the US), but also where many K-dramas + K-movies are filmed, so another bonus for me as a fan~ ദ്ദി🤭

Lastly, to take advantage of the 20-picture limit lol, I also have my pics from visiting Hybe Building⟭⟬⁷in Yongsan. I used to go a lot back then and am a little sad that Hybe Insight Museum isn’t there anymore. But it is still cool to see where the entertainment company is, where idol groups practice, and visit old spots in the area 🎧ྀི♪⋆.✮

HONGDAE: HOME SWEET HOME˚✿˖°⌂

As you know, it’s my first time back POST-COVID!! I was so worried (•﹏•;) because I only remembered how strict and health-conscious things were with masks on all the time + 6-feet distance in 2021🦠😷💉. Now, being back, it’s so different…a lot more people in the streets, more events, and a much livelier vibe.

I also realized that I didn’t love + miss Korea because of the place ONLY but the people I met while being there🌍👩🏻‍🤝‍👩🏼💕. I don’t think I’d have the same experience if it weren’t for them and I’m so grateful for this reunion trip filled with nostalgia and new memories. It’s pretty special to have another home, no matter where you are, and to feel like time stands still whenever you meet.

On our very first day, we knew we had to visit our old place, and the memories started rushing back—I got emotional being there🥹. LOL tell me why I be tearing up both at the time and in public from writing this, plz this is so embarrassing jk jk😅. The seafood restaurant was still there but no big fishes🐟this time, our favorite GS25 worker wasn’t there anymore, but Plant🌱, our favorite vegetarian spot, is. Sadly, they don’t have their burgers anymore, which I’ve been craving for years, but it’s okay, I got to see Lili, my lil red, which is totally 💯 better!!

It was so nice to catch up, eat at our favorite spots, walk the Hongdae streets again, and shop like we used to. I was the youngest in the house and I still am haha to my older besties, but it’s crazy to see how everyone has grown up, yet I still feel the same love from them🫂❤♾️. I continue to root for them, just like I do with all my loved ones. So, I’m happy to still be connected and hopefully have more reunions~

P.S. It’s funny—Lili said the same thing my friend back home, Sheri, did about how I should’ve become an influencer. I never really thought about it, but maybe someday…🤔💭

Guess who’s back?! And guess where I am too? 🗺️❓👀

I have finally recovered from my jet lag and am ready to share my reunion trip~!!

This has been a long time coming, and I am so elated that the time has finally come! We always say every year that we should reunite to visit Korea, sooo 4 years later…the trip finally made it out of the group chat 🇰🇷₊˚⊹♡

It was a mix of emotions—from the anxiousness of coming back to the excitement of planning. I can say now that the trip was sooo worth it, but I will warn future travelers to NOT go in the summertime. That sweltering heat was insane☀️🥵 and I am from Hawaii where it is HOT year round. One minute outside and you’re sweating entirely, and everyone has a handheld fan, which is so valid and such a lifeline to keep you going. All in all, I still had so much fun and an amazing time!

Highlights:
- Immigration and customs🛄: The process was so quick compared to before, when I spent over 6+ hours in line to get to my quarantine hotel.
- Hongdae🏙️: Everything looks the same, with some places replaced like our favorite Cafe Blanc to another Starbucks sadly.
- Pop-Ups🛍️: Ads are everywhere, and marketing is on a different level. Too many cute things = very dangerous for your wallet haha 🤭

It’s been awhile since I last updated my travel blog but I wanted to share that I reunited with my exchange friends (❀ˆᴗˆ)(•́ᴗ•̀✿) ✈︎ જ⁀➴ ⛰︎ #winterbreak2024❄️☃️

One of my study abroad goals was “creating everlasting memories” and I achieved that thanks to my gorls 💗🫶🏻🫂 It’s truly amazing how our friendship has gone the distance and stayed strong through the years! Til now, I always encourage others to study abroad and seize travel opportunities—you come back with great stories and memories you’ll never forgetᵕ̈

Life Updates🔔⚠️: we’re all thriving in our own ways — some are still pursuing their studies or traveling, others have graduated and begun their careers, but all of us are continuing to work hard in the paths we’ve chosen 𐙚‧₊˚📒✩ ₊

HAPPY NEW YEARS, 2023 let’s go🎉🎉

As promised, I was going to post if I actually receive the letter in the mail. AND I DID🥳💌📫!! From South Korea to Hawaii, the letter has made its way to my house a year later. I still remember how exciting it was when Elise and I did a day long adventurous friend date to make the most of the time we had left in our study abroad. It truly was a memory that I’ll always look back on and reminisce how great it was 😆☺️!

Update: I still talk to my roommates regularly and we still keep in touch today. Whether it’s sending each other memes, re-tweets, Tik Tok videos, and little chats: we still maintain a strong connection. It goes without saying but I MISS THEM AND KOREA SO MUCH 😭💓🥲💔👯‍♀️

My 2023 goal is either have a reunion in Europe or meet in the middle at Korea. Either way, I will try my best to see them again, catch up, and have lots of fun together!!! 📝✈️🌍

- Always go to the airport at least 3 hours earlier if international and 2 hours for domestic 🛂
- Pack wisely or you’ll end up with too many luggage like me 🛄
- Weigh your luggages ahead of time to ensure it meets the requirements 🛅
- Make copies of your forms, have your passport ready, and ask for receipts if you purchase something 🛃

Ewha Womans University 💚🤍🌸

If you didn’t know, I studied abroad here in the Fall 2021 semester. Ewha is a private school located in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, South Korea near Yonsei and Sogang. The only males that attend the school were exchange or graduate students, so you’ll rarely see any guys 😂. It was founded in 1886, is one of the largest women institutions in Korea, and ranked approximately 13th nationally. Overall, this university was not the best but the people I met, the courses I took, and the memories I had made my experience 💯 better.

Pros:
- Located in Seoul and near many places
- Beautiful campus scenery (ECC)
- English-taught courses
- Diversity (the people you meet from all over the world😁)
Cons:
- Fierce competition during course registration (you might not get any of the classes you need / want to take)
- Late announcements from the international office and academics (Professors don’t set concrete assignment dates on the syllabus and assign work last minute)
- Uncleanliness of the dormitory
- Unorganized for the ARC process and National Health Insurance periods

Advice: Apply to the SKY schools first, then research what other places you would be interested in 😅

New Rules = STRESS 😩😤😦🥱

According to the CDC website, it said “Traveling Internationally? Travel Requirements have changed. Starting December 6, all air passengers, regardless of vaccination status, must show a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 1 day before travel to the United States.”

I spent my last full day in Seoul: getting tested and waiting 4 hours at the airport for my PCR test. In order to board the plane and enter the US, I had to present a negative covid result when checking in. Hawaii only accepts two testing partners, which was Yonsei Severance Hospital and Incheon International Airport. You can either take an antigen or PCR but double check on what your country and airline accepts. The first option was fully booked, so I had no other way but to get tested at the airport. It took me an 1 hour + 30 mins to get there then waited around 4 hours for the test, and another 1 hour + 30 mins to get back home. 🙃

Be prepared for departure requirements if you study abroad during a global pandemic!

When you’ve been to the luggage store 3 times with 3 different people and a purchase was made each time, you get FREE slippers 😂

Funny Story Time: My roommates bought their suitcases on different days and I went 3/4 times. The store representative remembered us, so on the last visit, she gave us complementary gift. The kindness she showed us every time we met was genuine and we were appreciative for the service + the slippers ☺️!!

The day before Anna left, we took a final trip to YongSan 😶

We both felt mixed emotions throughout the day since we were sad about leaving Korea soon yet so excited to be going back home. To me, it was sad that I might not see my new friends for awhile but extremely grateful that I even had the chance to be here. Everything happens for a reason, so I am truly happy for what I got to experience in Korea last year (omg it’s 2022 🤭)

Lesson learned: Given the opportunity, take a risk + chance + odds that something good might happen from it 🙂 It’ll all work out in the end…

When living in Hongdae couldn’t get any better, we live near a cafe where you can make rings! To commemorate our time here, we spent the afternoon creating our own rings from scratch💍🥰. It called Banji Cafe and you can book a reserved session online! You can do it alone but it’s better if you do it as a pair or a group of 4 😊

It all comes back to Tik Tok but man, that app has so many good suggestions! This is a hidden gem, located behind my host university (Ewha) and near Yonsei University. I would suggest buying one and sharing it with your friends because we all struggled trying to finish one each 😅
